~ Assessments ~

We employ the use of the BarOn EQ-i and the Meyers Briggs Type Indicator in our work along with other customized assessments and exercises.

BarOn EQ-i

Based on 19 years of research by Dr. Reuven Bar-On and tested on over 85,000 individuals worldwide, BarOn EQ-i is the premier scientific measure of emotional intelligence. BarOn EQ-i measures one's ability to deal with daily environmental demands and pressures, and helps predict one's success in both professional and personal pursuits.  This assessment can be used to assist in the recruiting process and when management or employee development initiatives are being considered. Research indicates that there is a strong correlation between emotional intelligence and job performance, making BarOn EQ-i the ideal screening tool to aid in selecting potentially successful employees. You can even make a profile of the top performers in your organization to determine what skills are the most valuable to your company in general and/or for a particular job function.  Skills associated with emotional intelligence are acquired and can be improved through training, which makes this a valuable instrument for identifying potential areas for improvement and for measuring the effectiveness of organizational development programs. The assessment can be completed online and it takes only 30 minutes to complete.

Meyers Briggs Type Indicator

The MBTI® is the most widely used personality-typing instrument presently in use. It is provided in several different languages and has been proven to be statistically valid and reliable.  The MBTI® was developed by the mother and daughter partnership of Isabel Myers and Katherine Briggs in an effort to develop and make practical use of the theories of the renowned Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung.

The MBTI® instrument provides an accurate picture of a person’s personality type by  determining preferences on four dichotomies:

  • Extraversion–Introversion:  describes where people prefer to focus their attention and get their energy—from the outer world of people and activity or their inner world of ideas and experiences

  • Sensing–Intuition:  describes how people prefer to take in information—focused on what is real and actual or on patterns and meanings in data

  • Thinking–Feeling:  describes how people prefer to make decisions—based on logical analysis or guided by concern for their impact on others

  • Judging–Perceiving:  describes how people prefer to deal with the outer world—in a planned orderly way, or in a flexible spontaneous way

It is used by many corporations, universities, governmental agencies, and the military to enhance team performance, communications, and organizational development. It is also used by individuals to better understand their behavior and ability to interface with members of their family or work environment. The MBTI® is a powerful and very versatile instrument, with applications in the following:

Individual Development – Identifying leadership style, developing managerial potential, time and stress management, and executive coaching

Team Building and Team Development
– Improving communication, enhancing team problem solving, valuing diversity and resolving conflict

Organizational Change – Understanding and dealing with responses to rapid change, understanding team and corporate conflict

Improving Communication – Developing selling and influencing skills

Education and Career Coaching – Identifying learning styles and motivations, improving teaching and training methods, and providing career guidance to identify the best fit between individual and job.

Relationship Coaching – Improving the quality of relationships and interactions

Using the results of the MBTI®, individuals and companies are offered the opportunity to examine personal differences in a new and enlightening way. Interactive, personality type training workshops unlock and explore differing perspectives on how information is viewed, decisions made, styles of communication, and organization of time and schedules. After completing the instrument, groups participate exercises that allow insight into greater understanding of self and of opposite type.
