Inspiring Tiles

1 day class or 2 half days (6 hours)

For one full day we will use stimulating words, pictures and quotes to inspire our creations. Tiles can me mounted as a wall hanging or felted as a coaster or put together as a tray or trivet. Fun, is the key word and a day of relaxation and creativity is our vehicle. Cost for the day includes all materials and firing - $69. Click here to register.

Beginner Glass Bead Making
1 day class (6 hours)
You can learn the fun and very absorbing art of making glass beads! In ancient times only a select few knew the secret of melting glass into beads — now you too can learn these fascinating techniques...with, of course, more modern equipment and materials!  This class will introduce you to the wonderful world of making "lampworked" beads. You will learn how to make your very own glass beads, starting with nothing but glass rods and a flame. Plenty of practice time for each technique will be included - the class is largely hands-on, and with a maximum of 3 students. Topics covered include:

• Overview of the equipment and tools, basic safety information. Setting up a home studio is also discussed.
• Types of glass, compatibility, annealing
• Making Beads
  • How to make a basic round bead
  • Making dot beads
  • Pulling stringers and "twisties"
  • Shaped beads (they don't have to be round) - Using various tools for shaping and details
  • Using frit
  • Tricky colors and interesting effects
  • Silver foil and encasing
  • Florals (if time permits)

Tools and glass are supplied and you will have your own beads to take home - (the beads made in class will be kiln-annealed and will be available for pick-up the following business day)

Cost for the day includes all materials, equipment and annealing - $150.
